Sod Lawn Installation
When installing sod, the first step is to prep the ground so that it’s a fertile place for grass to grow and to provide a suitable grade for the lawn. If there is old, dead grass in place we use a sod-cutting machine to cut it out and remove it. Once the ground is bare dirt, we rototill the surface down to 6 inches to ensure the roots of the grass can easily take hold. Next we till one yard of compost soil amendment into the soil per 500sqft of lawn. This not only improves the fertility of the soil but increases its ability to retain moisture which cuts down on the water the lawn will need. Once a perfect grade has been established it’s time to roll out and install premium sod in the area. If you do not currently have a sprinkler irrigation system, you may want to look into installing lawn sprinklers.
